SWIM

P.B country by a minute. Went out at a steady/slow pace and got faster. Second quarter was the hardest bit.

RUN

22/04/10

6.2 Mile run.

First run with Serpentine. Fairly slow going but i felt really strong. 45 minutes run. Sunset on the last few miles through Hyde Park, blissful.

SWIM

20/04/10

2kms- 41.22

1Km Split- 20mins

Return to the pool after a month away. Felt quite weak in the arms for the first 1km and got gradually stronger. Either the effect of not much food or effort meant i felt quite special during some parts. Right foot went to sleep at 1.5km but eventually woke back up! Knackered upper body afterwards.

RUN

23/2/10- Run

9 days of skiing, great honest exercise and beer, and wine and raclette.

Ran in the evening for 1 hour 10 minutes through the snow. Pretty compact underfoot and as hard as road, changeable terrain even in the snow made it tough on the ankles. Altitude made me breath heavy and I was truly beat by the end of a days ski and run but happy and feeling good. Spectacular run through the forests and villages near Val Cenis as the sun went down.

Ate half a marble cake on making it home.

RIDE

Victoria Station London to Brigthon- 3 hours 52 Minutes
Total: 56 miles

So solid. Great ride. Felt strong, not much use of the aero bars on the route, but good pace. Nutrition was pretty sporadic, left it until a bit too late on several occasions, and unsuprisingly found any food easy to absorb. Nutrigrains and Trackers bars- good road fodder.

Felt wiped out ahead of Ditchling Beacon but had a nutrigrain and a tracker bar and went up it pretty easily when it came down to it, mixture of seated and standing. Hammered it into Brighton at the prospect of going over 4 hours. Sat on a bench on the promenade in the sunshire, took in the view and then got the train home.

Cycled to and from Victoria station on the way and way back so days total: 67 miles

I love my bike.

SQUASH

Four games of squash with Jimbo, sprinting very challenging but the games were good. Not particularly mobile but pushed hard to make the best of it. Change from hours worth of endurance to sprinting was generally not very much fun, by the end feeling pretty good again.

SWIM RUN

Swim (am)

1500m swim, pretty easy, comfortable distance now. Went through the first 500m in 8 minutes. Felt like i was swimming towards my limit in terms of pace for all of it. Overall: 30.17


Run (pm)

1 hour 37 Minutes. Cross country in Hampstead Heath. Really nice run. 1 hour offroad and half an hour on the road. Ayran and i ran with head torches, did some hill training, upping the pace for each hill and for the final double header of hills into West Hampstead. Gentle pace over all and felt strong at the end.

RUN

1 Hour 30 minutes. Running cross country in Kent. A good run in the country, found breathing quite heavy and slightly difficult, partly due to the cold. Did a little bit of fartlek, which was fun.

SWIM- RUN

25/01/10

Bad week of training week just gone. Lots of extra-curricular.

Atoned with an hour of Individual Medley (breaststroke, crawl, backstroke and butterfly). Despite being stronger fly is like watching an elephant swim. Fun to mix it up though.

Run was great. Good pace, along canals to Little Venice and then turn back to Willy G. Out for an hour and a half. Dead legs by the end. Trained on a diet of one energy gel between the swim- run, which was perfect.

BIKE

17/01/10

Rode for three and a half hours in Richmond Park. Started to feel stronger the further i went, ride with minimal was an experiement, which was pretty tough. Had a gel (delicious tropical flavour) about 2 hours 45 mintues which made me feel better, but was a ragged mess back home at 3 hours 30 minutes.

GYM

Went to test the facilities at the Nuffield Health, Fitness and Wellbeing (!!!) Centre

Leg press- 30 on light resistance
Bench Press-
Bar Weights- 15kg- As many as possible
10 minute running interval session
500m Full pace rowing
70 Sit ups
30 minute sauna (sweaty mess)

RUN

1 Hour in the snow. Experimented with some walk-run strategisiation. Seemed pretty do able, slightly painful after about 45 minutes and the walk-run after that but not too bad. Grim stitch for the first twenty minutes, but cleared. Need to leave it longer to digest excellent stew and jacket potato.

Started fast again, which didn't help the middle third. Last third was really good. Stroke and catch improving and working on pulling through to waste level. Experimented with kick, which seemed a little more powerful.

3.5km Swim

Total: 3.5km- 1 hour 22 minutes

2km Split- 45 Minutes 27 Seconds

Good session in the pool, nice to have a go at swimming the distance, well, close to it.

Felt stronger in the second half than the first. Went out too fast in the first 1k but got into a good rhythm and felt strong in the last 500m, but pool was closing. Now to start swimming fast!
